Mission Prep — FAQ

Who is this for?+

Youth and young adults preparing to serve a mission — or anyone who simply wants to learn to teach and share the gospel with confidence.

Do I need a mission call to join?+

Not at all. The whole point is to prepare long before your call comes, so you arrive already knowing how to find, invite, and teach.

What does it cost?+

Nothing. It's free to enroll and free to take part.

What actually happens?+

You'll learn and practice teaching the gospel simply and by the Spirit, build friendships with others preparing alongside you, and complete real experiences that stretch you — including teaching practice lessons in members' homes.

What if I don't have a phone?+

You're still fully included. Everything important works without a phone, and a parent or leader can help you stay in the loop.

How do I start?+

Tap Enroll, fill out the short form, and a leader will reach out with class times and next steps.

Host Family — FAQ

What is a practice lesson?+

A youth preparing to serve comes to your home and teaches a short gospel lesson — the way a missionary would. You're the family they get to practice with in a warm, low-pressure setting.

Do we need to be a 'perfect' teaching family?+

No. You don't need to prepare anything or know any answers. Your only job is to welcome them, listen, and be yourselves.

How long does it take, and how often?+

A lesson usually runs about 30–45 minutes, and it's occasional — not a standing weekly commitment. You'll agree on timing when a leader reaches out.

Who comes to the home?+

The youth, almost always with a companion, and coordinated by a leader who stays aware of every visit. Youth are never sent alone.

Can we choose who we host?+

Yes. When you sign up you can note whether you'd prefer to host young men, young women, or either.

How do we volunteer?+

Tap Offer Your Home, fill out the short form, and a leader will contact you to schedule a time that works for your family.
